This encounter sparked an idea, and Tom and Cat invested in the necessary equipment to learn embroidery and teach others the skill. Thus, they founded their business, ByTomCat, with the goal of providing the specialist with a fresh start and passing on their knowledge to future generations. Despite the pandemic's challenges, the couple persevered, built a solid foundation for their business, turning ideas into beautiful reality, and are now passing on their knowledge and passion to their oldest granddaughter.

Cat has a background in interior design and decoration, including creating the interior of the notable Elegance on the Bayou wedding venue. She also learned sewing, hand embroidery, and various crafts from her grandmother, and jewelry-making from her mother. Tom has experience in computer and graphic design from his military service, including building custom carpentry shadow boxes for retired military members. Together, Tom and Cat worked on the display of their memorabilia, retirement programs, and celebration of life flyers for fallen members. They also design and create stage designs and props for a local civic organization.
The encounter with the embroidery specialist changed Tom and Cat's lives, and they are proof that it's never too late to follow your passion and make a positive impact on others.
